A one-of-a-kind farm hotel
The hotel is set on a 17th Century Cape Dutch farm at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley, South Africa's culinary capital. The unique farmhouse and cottage accommodation invites guests to ground themselves in the beauty and diversity of their surroundings.
The accommodation at Babylonstoren blends the farm's unique architectural & cultural history with the natural surrounds of the Western Cape's mountains.
A garden of botanical diversity
The farmhouses and cottages are set adjacent to 3.5 hectares of cultivated fruit & vegetable garden which provide the hotel's three eateries with bountiful options for the fork-to-table style of service.
A farm-to-fork dining experience
Seasonal produce grown in the expansive gardens is served along with fine wine in Babel Restaurant, reflecting the owners' farm-to-fork philosophy of "pick, clean and serve".' The Greenhouse and The Bakery also open daily for guests to enjoy a variety of farm to plate produce.
The Luxembourg chair is used extensively in the hotel's eateries, blending natural and vibrant colours that reflect the culinary theme of each one. We love the vibrant cotton white used in the contemporary Babel Restaurant, while the use of green tones works perfectly for The Greenhouse.
The garden spa
A pavilion constructed from bamboo with a hammam, hot spa, chill room, expansive indoor & outdoor pool & gym is set within a bamboo forest to provides a perfect spot to relax & unwind.
Events with authentic style
The unique hotel setting offers event facilities such as the Old Cellar which seats 100 guests at one long table.
Luxembourg chairs in Cotton White create a stylish yet authentic setting with a nod to Cape Dutch history.
Something for everyone
Guests can simply relax or venture out cycling, rowing or fishing, take a garden tour, go for mountain drive, or do a wine & oil tasting. Kids are invited to help feed the donkeys, to collect eggs and to help harvest fruit and vegetables from the garden. A new wine museum offers an additional space to explore & discover the origins, cultivation & culture behind winemaking.
With an inspiring landscape & refined style with a down-to-earth feel & located on one of the best preserved Cape Dutch farmyards in the Cape, there's something very special about Babylonstoren.
